She taught elementary and secondary Special Education, and was a Community Schools Coordinator for 20 years across LAUSD schools. She is also a mother of a current LAUSD high school student and lives in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles. Board Member Griego led educators through the 2019 and 2023 UTLA strikes as a UTLA Area Chair, board member, and chapter chair. She is also one of the founding members of Reclaim our Schools Los Angeles (ROSLA), the powerful coalition of unions and community organizations fighting for fully funded, public, anti-racist, Community Schools.
Recently elected, Ms. Griego is excited to build a team rooted in a commitment to movement building, relational organizing, and leadership development. Some of her priorities include strengthening Special Education programs, increasing mental health supports and real safety in schools, community schools, transformative curriculum and instruction, and the Black Student Achievement Plan.
